Skin Micro-Dermabrasion or Exfoliation

Microdermabrasion Bend - Microdermabrasion In Elle and Vogue, micro-dermabrasion has been called “the lunchtime peel.” This skin-revitalizing treatment is comfortable and gentle in its treatment of your skin concerns.

What can microdermabrasion treat?

The clinicians at EsthetixMD may suggest microdermabrasion for:
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation (brown spots)
  • Rejuvenating aging skin
  • Acne (clogged pores and some scars)
  • Blemishes
  • Dry skin, oily skin, and more

Which areas of the body can be treated with microdermabrasion?

This safe, effective treatment is suitable for the face, chest, neck, elbows, arms, hands, and knees.

How does it work?

Microdermabrasion increases cell renewal by stimulating blood flow and oxygenation. Exfoliation occurs, removing tired, dead skin cells and promoting cellular growth in the basal (deepest) layer of the skin. Pores are cleansed during treatment, and collagen rebuilding is encouraged.

What can I expect?

Microdermabrasion is a relaxing, convenient treatment that you can enjoy right after work or even on your lunch hour. It is gentle and comfortable, so you won’t need a topical anesthetic. After treatment, you will be able to resume normal activities with a beautiful, healthy glow.

Is microdermabrasion right for me?

If you have begun to notice the effects of age, sun damage, and other factors, and you want to regain a youthful glow, microdermabrasion may be right for you. This treatment is also a wonderful alternative to chemical peels for those with sensitivity, and it is suited to light and dark skin tones.

FAQ

Are several microdermabrasion treatments necessary?
The effects of microdermabrasion are cumulative. Although your skin will begin to look more radiant after your first few sessions, your clinician may recommend up to ten to achieve the desired result. After you have completed a course of treatment, results can be maintained with periodic touch-ups.
Is it necessary to prepare for microdermabrasion treatment?
Microdermabrasion is a gentle treatment to exfoliate the skin. We may suggest that you stop certain medications prior to your visit. It is also beneficial to stop smoking in the week before treatment so circulation and healing can be improved. In order to prevent irritation, you should not tan before treatment.
Are there limitations and risks to microdermabrasion treatments?
Microdermabrasion is very gentle and cannot remove deep scars or severe spotting. It will not remove tattoo ink, either. Because treatment focuses on superficial tissues, there is virtually no risk.
Are there conditions that would exclude me from microdermabrasion treatment?
Microdermabrasion is suited to most people. However, conditions such as severe acne, rosacea, keratosis, eczema, lupus, psoriasis, dermatitis, delicate capillaries, auto-immune disorders, and diabetes may present a problem. Your physician or esthetician will discuss alternative treatments to address your concerns.
What is microcurrent therapy?
Microcurrent is low level electrical current that works in concert with the body’s natural tendencies. In addition to beneficial response in wound healing, microcurrent causes a significant increase in the production of ATP in the skin. ATP is vital to the regeneration of elastin and collagen.
How many microcurrent sessions are needed to improve appearance?
Microcurrent therapy is like exercise for your facial muscles. In order to achieve lasting results, it is necessary retrain the muscles throughout the face. Research suggests that 10 to 12 sessions are ideal. With periodic touch-ups after this time, results can last for years.
