Waxing

Waxing Save time and protect your skin with waxing services at EsthetixMD in Bend.

Shaving, plucking, and other hair removal tasks can be quite the chore. If you would like to escape the burden of removing unwanted hair, but aren't ready to jump into laser hair removal just yet, consider the many benefits of professional waxing services.

How long do results from waxing last?

The estheticians in our facility provide gentle care that protects the elasticity of your skin while creating smoother surfaces that last for weeks at a time. In general, this removal technique, which extracts hair from the root, achieves results in a relatively short period of time. This can be discussed during the initial consultation appointment.* Your pattern of hair growth and desire for smooth skin dictate your schedule for waxing.

Can someone with sensitive skin get a wax?

For individuals with sensitive skin, methods such as hair removal creams and shaving can cause irritation and redness. By using high quality ingredients in our waxing services, we are able to minimize the risks associated with abrasion and harsh chemicals. Because waxing reduces* the need to remove hair on a daily or weekly basis, your skin remains undisturbed for longer stretches of time.

Can't waxing be done at home?

When you visit EsthetixMD for professional hair removal, you experience benefits beyond time savings. What many people notice after a few waxing sessions is that re-growth in the treated area begins to look different. Consistent waxing causes the hair follicle to become weak. Consequently, hair that grows in the treated area tends to become lighter, softer, thinner, and sparser. Issues such as razor burns, shadow, and stubble also fade away over time. Additionally, the removal of wax from the skin extracts dead and damaged cells along with hair. This leaves the skin feeling baby-soft.

What is waxing treatment like?

Waxing can be performed on several different areas of the body. To begin treatment, your esthetician will cleanse your skin. Wax is applied at a comfortable temperature to create a relaxing experience. Once the wax has begun to dry, a special angle and technique are used to gently remove it, bringing hair from follicles up and out in one quick motion. Any excess wax that remains on the skin will be removed with a gentle solution. Your skin will be moisturized and you will be ready to go about your day!

FAQ

How long does my hair have to be to get a waxing service?
Optimal length is about ¼ inch. This allows wax to adhere properly for full, comfortable removal.
What is the difference between the various Bikini waxes?
  • Women may request a bikini line wax, which addresses the sides, where your bikini or panties may rest.
  • A full bikini takes hair off the sides and front, as far as you wish to go. Triangle, landing strip, it’s completely up to you!
  • A Brazilian wax can be done to remove all hair, front to back, including a butt strip. You may also choose to leave a small amount of hair up front. It’s all about your personal preference.
I’m pregnant. Can I still get waxed?
Pregnant women CAN still get waxing service. Due to elevated hormones, skin may feel slightly more sensitive during this time. This also applies to women who are menstruating.
Waxing and tanning, do they mix?
Both waxing and tanning can leave the skin a little sensitive for about 48 hours. If you have to choose, wax first. Avoid tanning for two days, but feel free to spend time outdoors with a good quality, SPF 30 sunscreen. If you plan to wax, do not tan for a few days prior to your visit.
Will waxing cause my hair to grow in darker or thicker?
No. Unlike shaving, which cuts hair at its thickest part, waxing pulls hair from the follicles. Many people notice that, after consistent waxing, less hair grows back. The hairs that do grow in tend to be thinner.
Are there ways to improve comfort?
Some say that caffeine can enhance sensitivity by restricting blood vessels. In addition to skipping that cup of coffee the morning of your treatment, you may also take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as Ibuprofen prior to waxing.
