Today, cosmetic rejuvenation often comes in the form of injectables. Yet there remains some confusion about these popular treatments. The experts at EsthetixMD Spa & Laser Center in Bend, OR share this helpful information about neuromodulators such as Dysport, and dermal fillers.
“Dynamic” is defined as a state of constant change. Dynamic wrinkles are those created when repeated facial expressions pull skin into lines and creases. Examples are:
“Static” refers to forces at rest. Thus, static wrinkles occur when volume loss allows skin to sag. Jowling, or drooping skin on the lower third of the face, is a classic example.
Dysport, Xeomin, and Botox are neuromodulators. They relax underlying facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles. Each brand is a slightly different formulation, but they work in a similar fashion, blocking nerve impulses. Of three, Dysport has slightly better diffusion, making it ideal for broader areas of distribution such as crow’s feet, and it tends to work a bit quicker.
Dermal fillers are gel compounds injected beneath the skin to replace volume lost through the natural process of aging. This improves facial contours and creates lift, smoothing static wrinkles. We use a broad range of fillers, some thick and others silky, to fill hollows and wrinkles and augment lips.
Aesthetic injectables are generally safe for all skin types, and have a high patient satisfaction rate. Results last several months to several years. Neuromodulators or fillers can be used alone, or as part of a comprehensive non-surgical rejuvenation plan, customized just for you.
