What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a next-generation injectable that improves on BOTOX for some patients. Now FDA-approved to treat forehead frown lines, Dysport is currently licensed for use in over 60 countries. It was developed in the United Kingdom in the 1990s to treat a number of neurological, ophthalmic, and neuromuscular disorders. Like BOTOX, Dysport is also created with botulinum toxin to address dynamic facial wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

Since then, its use has been expanded for cosmetic purposes such as wrinkle treatment, and EsthetixMD medspa is pleased to offer this alternative to BOTOX. A chemical cousin to BOTOX, Dysport is an injectable form of botulinum toxin Type A that has been found to be faster acting than BOTOX in clinical studies. It is a chemical muscle relaxant that works almost identically to BOTOX to successfully treat frown lines, worry lines, crow’s feet, and more. FDA-approved for aesthetic uses since 2009, Dysport was tested in over 2,900 patients in over 80 study sites across the country. It was approved as a safe and effective product for reducing unwanted muscle activity in the glabellar area.

Both successfully treat wrinkles. At our office in Bend, OR, Dysport is especially effective in countering the effects of frowning, scowling, and forehead wrinkling. It is most commonly used between the eyebrows, on the forehead, and next to the eyes, where crow’s feet form. Dysport affects only dynamically-caused wrinkles, not those caused by aging or collagen depletion, which we treat with fillers or lasers. Injections are performed in a few minutes with no anesthetic needed. You can return to work and normal activity with no downtime, and results are seen quickly.

Your Dysport Recovery

While receiving Dysport, Bend, OR, patients require minimal recovery but may experience some minor swelling or bruising at the injection site. These conditions will resolve naturally within a week.
