It was developed in the United Kingdom in the 1990s to treat a number of neurological, ophthalmic, and neuromuscular disorders.

A chemical cousin to BOTOX, Dysport is an injectable form of botulinum toxin Type A that has been found to be faster acting than BOTOX in clinical studies. It is a chemical muscle relaxant that works almost identically to BOTOX to successfully treat frown lines, worry lines, crow’s feet and more. FDA-approved for aesthetic uses since 2009, Dysport was tested in over 2,900 patients in over 80 study sites across the country. It was approved as a safe and effective product for reducing unwanted muscle activity in the glabellar area.

Your Dysport Recovery

While receiving Dysport Bend patients require minimal recovery, but may experience some minor swelling or bruising at injection sites. These conditions will resolve naturally within a week. You should avoid lying down for four hours after treatment. Do not rub or massage the treatment area. You should also avoid exercise, heat exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours.

Your Dysport Results

Your Dysport results will appear gradually. You will begin to notice the effects of your treatment within three to five days of treatment, and full results will appear in approximately two weeks. Results generally last three to four months until maintenance treatment is needed.

  • Is Dysport better than Botox?

    Whether an individual would benefit from Dysport of Botox will depend on various factors. Both Dysport and Botox are neuromodulators formulated to treat wrinkles temporarily. Some studies have found that Dysport may treat a wider area than Botox. However, this may be beneficial in some areas of the face and less desirable in others.   • How long does Dysport last?

    Dysport generally lasts around 3-4 months. However, this may vary from patient to patient. 

  • What does Dysport do?

    Dysport works similarly to Botox in that it temporarily relaxes muscles to smooth wrinkles. It is most commonly used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, though it can also be used in other areas of the face. 

  • Is Dysport painful?
