What is Intense Pulsed Light?

Intense pulsed light, sometimes referred to as IPL, uses light energy to target problems with the skin and improve its appearance. Hyperpigmentation issues can detract from even skin tone and may be extremely noticeable. By using treatments such as intense pulsed light, patients can smooth the look of their skin and sometimes no longer need to wear foundation!^* This can be life-changing especially for patients who have been embarrassed by their pigmentation issues for many years.

How does IPL work?

Intense pulsed light treatments work by stimulating collagen production and reducing the appearance of discoloration on the skin. This is done with the use of optical energy with or without radiofrequency. The energy is emitted by a special device used by our clinicians or providers. Some patients will see results with a single visit, while others may want to undergo a series of treatments, especially if discoloration is severe. This treatment, also known as foto-facial, can provide treatment for redness and breakout (dyschromia reduction), especially if breakout and sunspots are severe.
