Curious about the difference between Botox and Fillers.
As time goes by, our face changes. One of the changes we notice most frequently is the occurrence of wrinkles. There are two types of injectable products to address these changes, fillers and neuromodulators (such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin). However, these products work in different ways to achieve smoother skin.

Fillers are injected into the face to restore the volume that is lost through the process of aging. This leads to the lifting of sagging skin and to reestablishing a smoother, more youthful contour.

Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) work to decrease facial lines by reducing the activity of the muscles that lead to these wrinkles. To get the best results, you should treat more than one area in the upper third of the face at the same time. This is referred to as full correction. Choosing full correction typically leads to a more complete rejuvenation of the upper third of the face (eyes, forehead, between the brows) as opposed to focusing on one area or partial correction.

Additional areas can be treated, such as the upper and lower lips, the masseters (to lessen clenching of the teeth and to shape the lower face) and the neck (to help lift it and better define the jawline).

Whether you choose full correction or opt to treat partial areas, the injections are not permanent. Neuromodulators typically last up to 3 to 4 months and fillers last 1 to 2 years, depending on the product. What ever you choose, the result will be a more refreshed, rejuvenated and youthful you!

We like Volbella due to it’s soft and natural look. It is especially nice for the lips and fine lines. It is easy to inject and gives great results for those looking for immediate gratification and add a little pop to brighten the smile, entice the lips, or simply fight Father Time.

I love products that lift and provide contour to the cheek area. Juvéderm Voluma is designed to add volume beneath the surface of your skin. As you age, your cheeks may flatten and your skin may begin to sag. Voluma provides natural looking and long lasting results that last up to two years.

Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus is a versatile filler. I like to use it for patients who are part of the Brilliant Distinctions program soon to be called Allē by Brilliant Distinctions. It is a predictable and well tolerated hyaluronic acid facial filler with several applications making it useful in many different kinds of patients for a long lasting effect. At EsthetixMD we love to pair it with a topical product like Skin Medica HA5 and Ha5 lip plumper to enhance the benefits in the skin or lips.
EsthetixMD march 2020 newsletter Amy Milne, RN:

Why I love Vollure. First of all it is the first and only hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA approved to last up to 18 months for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and facial folds. It is part of the Juvederm Vycross family. Vycross technology is a mix of low and high molecular weight HA, which results in a highly crosslinked gel that is moldable immediately after injection. It presents with minimal swelling which means less down and recovery time than other HA fillers. Due to the high crosslinking of the molecules Vollure is designed to last longer than earlier generation of HA fillers. The longevity of this product makes it a better value per price point than other HA's that last only 12 months. What you see is what you get with Vollure, it truly sits in the sweet spot where it is firm enough to fill the line, but soft enough to move naturally with facial expression.

CoolTone, a New Body-Contouring Device, Receives FDA Clearance
Unlike its fat-freezing counterpart, CoolSculpting, the CoolTone device boosts muscle definition.

In today's modern world, you can pay to have your fat frozen off and muscles toned up with a machine in a matter of minutes — without any downtime. These noninvasive procedures continue to rise in popularity, and new devices are hitting the market every year.

The latest to gain clearance by the Food and Drug Administration is called CoolTone, and it comes to us courtesy of Allergan, the same company that manufactures Botox and CoolSculpting devices. Even though the word "cool" is in the name, however, the CoolTone device doesn't involve freezing of any sort (unlike CoolSculpting, which does freeze — and kill — fat cells).

CoolTone, on the other hand, is intended to help strengthen and tone muscles. It does this via magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS), which basically shoots electromagnetic energy into your muscles to cause involuntary contractions. The body's response to these involuntary contractions is to strengthen the muscle fibers underneath the targeted area of treatment, so the result is supposedly stronger, firmer, and more defined muscles. In other words, while CoolSculpting literally freezes and kills fat cells (which are then naturally flushed out of the body), CoolTone works to tone underlying muscle fibers.
